Grow Your Child's Multiple Intelligences

Inside every child is a lot of potential just waiting to be tapped. To grow this, we must remember that one size may not fit at all. By recognizing the various intelligences that exist in every child, we can create a better approach to education. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Understand Your Child's Intelligences​

Your child's intelligence includes linguistic, visual, musical, and more! Knowing and growing these skills can help children thrive in different areas.

Look out for the things they love​

Observe your child's behaviours, interests, and preferences to identify what they're good at and brings them joy. Do they enjoy storytelling, or do they prefer puzzle? Are they drawn to artistic impression or are they better at interpersonal skills? By paying attention you can learn their dominant intelligences and tailor their educational experiences accordingly.​

Try different learning styles​

Different activities engage different senses. Some children enjoy story time. Others love art- it is a great way to engage them. Some are physically active, making them great for sports and dance. Some quickly memorise songs- use singing to nurture their musical intelligence. If your child has a strong logical-math skills, introduce them to mathematical puzzles. If they love the outdoors, encourage outdoor exploration.​

Keep it fun and interesting​

As your child grows, different experiences could shape their intelligences or unlock some hidden potential. Occasionally, you can introduce new experiences that challenge their known intelligences or allow them to stretch themselves. For example, if they are musical, you may introduce a new instrument or genre of music. You will promote a sense of competence, engagement, and self-motivation in them.​
