Establish Consistent Routines.

Implementing routines improve time management and build planning skills. Encourage your child to maintain a daily schedule for effective time management.

Teach Task Planning and Organisation.

Help your child break down complex task into smaller more easily managed steps. You can encourage them to build the habit of making "to-do" lists or use charts and calendars to track their progress. This will teach them skills such as priority setting, making them self-reliant and responsible.

Encourage Goal Setting

Encourage your child to set both short-term and long-term goals. Short-term goals could involve completing a puzzle or finishing a book whereas long-term goals could involve learning an instrument or a new language. Setting realistic and achievable goals will teach them perseverance and a sense of accomplishment.

Foster Decision Making Skills

Allow your child to make decisions appropriate to their age and responsibility level. Offer choices within limits and give them the opportunity to weigh options and understand the consequence of their decisions. Encourage them to think through different scenarios and consider other perspectives. By horning their decision-making skills, you are equipping them with the ability to make sound judgements and solve problems effectively.
